Weight Loss Secrets

If you want to lose 1-2 lbs. a week first weigh yourself on a reliable scale. Take that current weight and multiply it by 12 then subtract 500. The number you get is the total number of calories you can eat per day to lose 1-2 lbs. a week. Calories are the units of energy needed to properly operate your body. When you consume more calories than your body needs to operate, you gain weight. It’s just that simple. Everybody’s body is different. Some people seem to burn more calories just by doing whatever they do everyday. On the surface you may think that these people can “eat whatever they want to”, without gaining weight. That is correct, however these people have “decided” to eat what their bodies need to keep their weight and health optimal. They get the exercise their bodies need to help increase their rate of burning fat (metabolism), and take vitamins. You have to decide if you are ready to be healthy and lose some weight safely and keep it off. If you follow the formula outlined above you have 100% control of what you can eat everyday. You are never deprived of any specific food. You decide what fits into your daily calorie budget. Whether it is pizza, ice cream or a candy bar, you get to decide. This is a safe gradual way to lose weight and keep it off. I have lost 80 lbs. and feel great. It took me 3 years but it was well worth it!

It’s all about wellness, not just weight loss. You need to adjust your current thinking about your body, your health and the food you eat. If you start thinking about your body and what it really needs to thrive, you will soon realize that you don’t need junk food, cola’s and high fat foods. You eat them out of habit or because it’s fast and easy or it’s in your kitchen. You eat this stuff again and again out of habit. Change your eating habits. Plan ahead. Don’t buy foods that contribute to weight problems. Read the whole label before putting the item in you shopping cart. You will be shocked by the reality of a lot of items you have been buying. On first glance they say “low fat” but if you compare it to some other product you will find that often this item has more fat and more calories than a product that does not have this eye catching label. Prepare snacks that are good for you and keep them handy so when you come home from work tired and hungry you can grab some of them while cooking dinner. (A bowl of chilled sliced cucumbers and tomatoes are tasty and filling.) Start thinking about how important your health is and what you can do to be healthy. Start thinking about your body as a machine. Your body is an electrical system (the brain) and a pumping system (the heart). The more efficient your machine operates depends entirely on you and how you treat it. Eat what your body needs not what your mind selfishly hoards. Exercise (preferably on the toning tables) and you will maximize your health, increase your energy and feel great, not to mention you will save a ton of money by decreasing the number of prescriptions you take and trips to your doctor.

Overindulgence is always harmful. We have become a nation of spoiled fat people dependent on far too many prescription drugs. We eat oversized portions of everything. Restaurants serve too much and we eat it. The grocery store packages up big portions and we eat it all. It’s all about greed. The manufacturers of all these food products want more money so they package more than we need and we buy it. We want our “monies worth” at a restaurant so we gobble up the bread and anything else in sight even before our “way too big” dinner arrives at the table. It needs to about health, it isn’t. We eat when we are bored, frustrated, upset, happy, depressed, busy etc. In other words we eat all the time. Food has become an obsession. We should eat when we are actually hungry. Period.

Listen when your body is trying to tell you something. Sometimes you are only thirsty not hungry at all but out of habit you grab food to eat. Drink water. You don’t have to drowned in it. Just drink more water than you usually do. When you drink colas, whether they are diet or not a high level of acidity is created in your blood. It takes several glasses of water to change the ph in your blood back to a balance after just 1 cola drink. Water not only cleanses and purifies it takes fats and toxins out of your blood stream. Therefore by default drinking water actually helps you lose weight.

Write down what you eat. You may honestly believe you are not eating very much but when you keep a diary of every thing that goes into your mouth you will be surprised by how much you really do consume. Don’t cheat. This is for your eyes only. Not only do you become more aware of what you eat and drink and how much you eat and drink, you will start thinking twice about what you put in your mouth knowing it must be written down. This alone acts as a kind of deterrent from over eating.
